The DVD will be available in February, but I need to collect the money within the next two weeks. DVDs can now be ordered as follows:

  • 1 for $12
  • 2 for $18
  • 3 for $24
  • 4 for $30
  • each add’l, add $6

PIANO GUILD AUDITIONS memorized applications are as follows:

  • District – 4 Pieces (4) $27
  • State – 7 Pieces (5+2) $29
  • National – 10 Pieces (8+2) $31 IE $35

The +2 means that you can substitute Transposition and Sight Reading for a song in those levels. Right now we don’t necessarily have to determine WHAT we are playing, but we do have to determine HOW MANY we are playing. Applications will be going home this week. A copy has also been emailed to you all today.

PIANO SHOWCASE applications will also be going home next week to those students who have already received the copy of Level Two: “Menuet en Rondeau” several months ago.

  • Registration is $10.

All DVD orders and event applications must be turned in by the week of Jan 29/30/31, please.

Class of 2013

All the students did an excellent job at the recital. All that hard work paid off!

The Free-Press Courier has an article this week, so be sure to get a copy! Next week our class photo should be published in the same paper – so look for that, too.

Clark Wood Elementary Assembly

Clark Wood Assembly Participants

Today at 1:30, our five Clark Wood elementary students, plus a 7th grader who homeschools, performed for the Clark Wood elementary. It was a great first performance opportunity for three of those students who’s first community recital is tomorrow! Tonight at 4:00 will be our rehearsal for all students in tomorrow’s show.

Please Mark Your Calendars

Piano Studio Closings (4 of 4 for 2012):

    • December 25/26/27

TUESDAY students: I plan to be open on Tuesday, January 1. Since it is technically a holiday, you may request a change to a different time that day or to another day. If this is your desire, please let me know as soon as possible, as times will be on a first come/first served basis. I’ll be happy to accommodate as many as possible.

Piano Makeup Class

    • Monday, December 17 – 4:00 p.m – one hour (3 weeks before the show)
    • Monday, January 7 – 4:00 p.m – one hour (the week of the show)

Our Recital is just FIVE WEEKS away . . . That means only FOUR MORE LESSONS and TWO CLASSES are left before the show. Most of our songs are locked in and many of you are very close to performance-readiness. Our goal is to have all solos MEMORIZED. More on that coming soon . . .

Recital Fundraiser – COOKIES! Sept 25 – Oct 11

Ditto on last’s year’s blog post – cookie sales! And I don’t mean just *any* little cookies – I mean DEB’S BAKERY COOKIES! These things are not only fantastic, they are HUGE! Here’s the plan: Students will be able to help defray the ever rising costs of our Annual Piano Recital – building use costs, insurance, printing and advertising, just to name the big expenditures. PLUS – students will receive credit for each dozen cookies they sell, which will go toward earning books and sheet music, either for the recital or just for fun!

Next week a “shopping list” will be sent home with each student to decide which book(s) they may like to earn. They will earn one book or two pieces of sheet music for selling 6 dozen cookies. The more they sell, the more books/sheets they can earn. High sellers may even be able to put their credits toward bigger items like a metronome or music bag.

Cookie order forms will go home with the students the week of September 25/26/27 and must be returned in two weeks – the week of October 9/10/11. Fresh cookies will then be available for pickup two weeks later on Tuesday, October 23 – anytime after 11:00 a.m. PLEASE plan to pick up the cookies on TUESDAY, October 23 so they will be fresh for your friends and family!

The only difference with the cookies this year is with the icing. If someone orders a dozen iced cookies, they will receive 12 icing filled cups instead of icing already on the cookies. This allows for easier packaging and transport and at the same time keeps it fair – everyone gets their own icing to spread. 🙂

We know that you will LOVE these cookies! May I recommend the snickerdoodles?

NOTE: The two boxes represent ONE DOZEN. There is 1/2 dozen cookies in EACH BOX.
